Holiday front porch 2012 Snowless
Holiday front porch 2012 Snowless
December 15? Wow - where did this season go? And this year we even had that EXTRA week. It just doesnt feel very Christmassy yet here in Chicago - we have NO SNOW! Not a flake! Everything is so much prettier with a fresh blanket of snow and the carols just sound a little bit merrier to me.
I have been waiting to take pictures of my front porch with snow but now that it is not even going to be an option before Christmas, I finished today in the RAIN. Seriously?

This is actually a gorgeous tartan shower curtain I found new in box at a thrift shop earlier this month. It is coming in handy with all the rain it will have to endure. If I am going to have a rainy Christmas, I may as well move to Florida! Im so dreaming of a WHITE Christmas! :-)

Garden Harvests June 11 2012
The last of the corn was harvested this week.
I ate fresh corn for dinner a few times this week.
Here are a few more bags ready for the freezer.
Last big batch of peaches and cream corn
Final total from first planting was around 50 pounds.
Here is over eight pounds of squash harvested this week.
This is the amount of squash I pick daily.
We have harvested 25 pounds so far.
Last but not least, a few field peas that were mixed in among the corn.

First Seeds of 2012 Purchased
First Seeds of 2012 Purchased
We were at Wally World tonight and they have started putting out some of their vegetable seeds. They didnt have a huge selection, but they did have my corn that I love to plant. I picked up 4 large packets of corn, 2 Silver Queen and 2 Peaches and Cream Corn. I also grabbed one packet of what I call English Peas. My wife says she really likes them so I am going to give them a try. I want to pick up some white acre peas and butter beans, but I will probably have to get those at my local nursery. Everything else I can reuse the same seed packets from last year. I have them stored in my fridge, and hopefully I will still get good germination rates from them.
