Shed Building Plans

As always I love the transition from late summer to fall.  Among other outdoor activities I like to pursue Ive gotten out on my Catrike 700 a few times.  Other than the Ti-GP bike which I ride to work most days Ive neglected all my other bikes.  The trike is just plain fun to ride.  I keep waiting for the novelty to wear off but I keep falling further into lust with this sweet ride.

Periodically I make small tweaks and adjustments to perfect my fit to the machine.  Im a big fan of Catrikes overall design and in particular the steering system.  The grips and wrist rests can be adjusted forward and aft and tilted in or out to suit ones preference.  This design is a departure from many recumbents out there that rely on a more or less traditional handlebar setup.  After experimenting with the forward and back positioning of the hand grip I tilted them both in with just enough clearance for my hips during ingress and egress of the cockpit.  Like an open wheel race car or a fighter jet this cycle is a machine you get into rather than ride on. 

  

I missed the peak of the fall foliage with my camera but still beautiful in any event.  Recently I returned to Mt Vernon, Ohio to ride the HOOT trail and take a look from the observation tower in Founders Park.

Later back on the trail I was just riding along and all of a sudden my rear tire went flat.  Earlier when I went to top off my pressure the little insert in the presta valve popped right out the stem before I could attach the pump head.  I screwed it back in and inflated the tube as usual.  When the tire went flat on the trail I just figured the valve was broken so I pulled the wheel with the intention of replacing the whole tube.  For shits and grins I tried pumping the original tube back up and it held air fine.  I kept checking as I continued on my ride and had no more problems.  I have no idea what that was all about.

It wont be long now and the view will be back to cold grays and browns but even that Ill take over the view from the couch.

For years I have been aware of the fact that my house seriously lacks storage space. I also realized I hardly ever have a guest. So sorry guests........ youll have to sleep in the pantry. (Or in the camper, thats like a private suite in the driveway!)

Bi-fold doors are not a favourite of mine. I dislike the way they take up so much of the opening to my closets and in my house the bi-fold doors are hollow-core so I dislike them even more! 

When I found half-louvered wood bi-fold doors at a yard sale, I snapped them up planning to install them on my master bedroom closet.

Instead of using the bi-fold track, I decided to install them on hinges attached to the trim around the closet opening.

Hello, it's me again. You know, the obsessive compulsive can't leave well enough alone blogger?

I upcycled this cube shelving unit some time ago.  It went from basic cube to a console table with legs and drawers.  It worked well but since I'm in the middle of making over all the furniture in my home office, I decided to change this piece up a bit.

I adore pie safes. The look, the romance of bygone times, the smell of freshly baked pie in my mom's kitchen... mmmmmm delightful!

I've wanted a pie safe forever, but they don't ever seem to turn up for sale around here.  Sigh.  What to do.  A few weeks ago, I got an email from  D. Lawless Hardware offering me whatever I wanted from their stock to build something cool with.  When I saw the pie safe tin on their site I was so excited!!!  I picked out the old fashioned wheat sheaf pattern and got 4 of them.

I knew I wanted to create a pie safe, but I didn't know which cabinet to pick.  Then my eye settled on the unfinished pantry cabinet in my kitchen.  I've been searching for a way to dress up the plain jane door I built for it.  It just didn't do much for the cabinet and it certainly wasn't as charming as the shutter doors that I used on the top half.
