Shopping in Boston A few of my favorite things!
Shopping in Boston A few of my favorite things!

Since my beloved Fighting Irish of Notre Dame football team is an amazing 9-0, we decided to head out to Beantown to see the Irish
We did all the historical attractions like Freedom Trail and the JFK Library Museum and it was absolutely amazing to walk in the footsteps of our Forefathers and to walk in buildings which were such a part of covert meetings and colonial think tanks. But then it came time to spend a little time shopping!
We headed to Newbury Street which is just outside Boston Common and Boston Garden area and it is just the most quaint little shopping area I have ever enjoyed. I felt like I was in a movie.

I am slightly crazy about Lilly Pulitzer crazy and since they closed the only signature store in Chicago, whenever I go anywhere on vacation, I always Google to see if there is a Lilly store in the area. And of course, being Boston, there was. And it just happened to be on Newbury Street! Imagine that!

So we had Lilly....

and Kate...
And Ralph of course!
They also had Cartier and Burberry but I felt way under dressed to go in - did you ever feel that way?
I love classic, traditional clothing - I always have. My two favorite colors are navy blue and pink and the preppier, the better. But this trip to Boston introduced me to two AMAZING brands that I simply had to share! The first is a line of accessories for men and women and the company is called Kiel James Patrick and his products are simply stunning! (All images are from kieljamespatrick.com)

He added his own twist to the preppy staple that is the Nantucket rope bracelet which gets better and better as it gets more worn and frayed. He has added color, his trademark anchor closure, various nautical knots and the result is to die for. If I had to pick - seriously I could not decide!

This is a bracelet. A BRACELET! Ahhhhh! TOO cute!

When I first saw these and fell instantly in love, I had to Google to learn more. I envisioned an old sea captain - sort of like Robert Redford - making these on his boat. NOPE.
Kiel James Patrick is a young, native New Englander and a former model. Alrighty then. :-)

Anyway, good looks and heritage aside - his product line is amazing and I cannot wait to start to build my collection! My J Crew rope bracelets have about had it - time for something new. Some women prefer diamonds, I prefer accoutrements of a nautical nature. Most of the time.
THEN.... my world blew up. I was sauntering through the streets of Boston suddenly my anglophile sense became quite heightened and there, on Newbury Street, I found it. The most amazing store EVER. Like EVER!

Jack Wills! Ever hear of it? ME EITHER - until now!

The store is like a mash up of Ralph Lauren, RUGBY, Abercrombie, Brooks Brothers and Vineyard Vines. The sweaters (aka jumpers) are gorgeous and the pillows and the hoodies and the socks and the handbags, and the list goes ON and ON and ON! Here are the pics I took in the store. It was decorated for Christmas and they even kept their signature color scheme of pink and navy consistent throughout the decs. ADORABLE!
Of course they have the Queen on the wall, why wouldnt they?
Yes this gorgeous sweater has gold sparkly thread - SO pretty!

Lovely tweed and faux fur vest!
Love the pillows and underpants!

Pearls on a flannel shirt with a pea coat and yet - it SO works!

The Union Jack made out of shot glasses!

LOVE the packages in pink and navy! ADORABLE!
Happy Christmas!

And then I have to finish by sharing the Brooks Brothers Christmas windows.... TARTANS galore!
First up - I am seriously dying over this chair!

Ok thank you for coming along on my shopping day in Boston. Cant wait to get back to my home improvement projects - I have something on tap that is very exciting for me. Stay tuned....

Summer Dress Shopping!
Summer Dress Shopping!

Yay! Its Memorial Day! To look outside you would never know it. Here in Chicago, it is cloudy, gloomy and really cold! I am literally in fleece and jeans but flip flops - it is after all the official start to summer! I am thinking if I dress like it is summer, summer will notice and come for a nice LONG visit.
So, I have some weddings and events coming up and I really want a new summer dress. I know we have bunches of them hanging in our closets but there is something about a new sun dress that just starts the summer off right!
This is my dream dress:

But I cannot afford the price tag on this one! My new obsession is Mod Cloth! Modcloth.com - I dare you to not sit on this website for hours just drooling over all their clothes! I found this adorable navy and white broad stripe dress that is similar:

I love this so much! I only hope it looks this cute once I try it on - usually it does not! :-)
Then there is always Lilly Pulitzer - the quintessential summer uniform of the preppy at play.
Here are some of her Summer 2013 offerings:

Ooops - gotta go - more later. The rain stopped and I have to try and mow the lawn!

Disclosure: This is a Target sponsored post. I have personally tested the product myself and all opinions on the product are my own honest opinions. I have been compensated for my time to review this product. I am not employed by Target.
I love shopping at Target, and Im fortunate to have one just a few miles down the road from where I live, so when I had the opportunity to try out the new Target Cartwheel shopping app I was excited to find out what it was all about!
I know the inside of my Target like the back of my hand! Where do I go once inside? Well no matter what the purpose of my trip, there are a few departments that I always check out. I call it my Target B-Line! Check it out!
1. The lamp section in home decor Target always seems to have a nice selection of stylish table lamps. Target has artsy and a nice mix of modern and new vintage style lamps. I always seem to find one that is just my style. I like that the shades and bases are marked small, medium, or large, and that you can mix and match different shades to different bases. I also recently bought some pretty white paper star lights on a string that I just love.

Its like your own secret treasure trove of savings! Cartwheel is an app that you use on your iPhone, Droid, mobile web, table, or desktop that has secret savings and coupons that can only be found and used with the Cartwheel app. Cartwheel has over 700 offers (coupons) that you use on in-store purchases. (Note that Cartwheel offers are only used when shopping in the store and not available for online purchases.) Each guest starts with 10 "spots" for Cartwheel discount offers on your list.

After you sign into the app with either your email or Facebook login on your iPhone or Droid, all you do is scan any barcode on any item at Target and the app will show you if there is a Cartwheel offer for that item. You can also browse within the app before you leave home to see what Cartwheel savings are being offered by browsing each department right within the app.
(Facebook option: If you use your Facebook to sign in to the app, there is an option where you can see what Target Cartwheel offers your Facebook friends are using and vice versa. Of course, there is also the option to keep your Cartwheel list private so that only you can see it. No need to connect the app to Facebook if you do not want to, but it can be a nice way of sharing current Cartwheel discounts with friends.)

Another thing thats interesting about the Target Cartwheel app is that each barcode generated by Cartwheel is unique to you and holds all of the offers on your Cartwheel list. All you need to do is simply scan the barcode one time at the point of purchase (after scanning any other discounts or coupons) and all the discounts on your list will be applied. How easy is that? If you shop at Target, you need to check Cartwheel out!
