Eating Organic Fruits And Vegetables For More Energy

You already know by now that eating organic fruits and vegetable give you energy. Most people love to buy their fruits and vegetable from a can or even frozen. Yes, they are good but it is better to grow your own organic garden. This way you know they are fresh and have no preservatives.

When you grow your own garden - they are much fresher and you can get your full vitamins and minerals. When you cook your vegetables - you do not cook them until they are soggy and wept. This will bring out the best in your vegetable. Having your vegetable a little raw bring out the vitamins and minerals better. For which in turn you will get more energy from them.

Now, when you grow your own fruit, you dont get the chemicals that is sprayed on them to preserve them like at the market. You will taste the difference if you do a taste test like I did. To do the test just buy some fruit from the store and after you have grown your own fruit then of course taste it to the store bought.

You will find that the fruits and vegetables are much better. With that being said, you will eat even more from your organic garden. The more you eat the more energy you will have.

Your Home Security and the Big Picture

I’ve always considered “home security” to be a misleading phrase. In truth, the greatest elements of your home security aren’t always located within your home. It isn’t necessarily the equipment that helps detect criminals encroaching on your property, and neither is it the reinforcements and upgrades that might prevent burglars from breaking and entering into your property. Don’t get me wrong – those tools can be immensely helpful when a criminal has selected your property. However, I think we can all agree that the best element of a home’s defense is what makes your home being targeted in the first place.

This benefit to a home’s security is called deterrence, and it is perhaps the most important aspect to your home defense – and you can influence it in several ways.

Boosting Your Deterrence

There are a few practical steps that any homeowner can take to make sure that their home is well-guarded. Here are a few additions to your home that can make the difference and deter people from your home:

Besides their functionality, home security systems or signage indicating that an alarm exists can help keep out unwanted visitors.

· 1. When this equipment isn’t affordable or obtainable, equipping false cameras or signage can help nonetheless.

· 2. Keeping a guard dog, or simply erecting signage that a dog exists (i.e. “BEWARE DOG!”) can scare the wits out of people who might otherwise consider targeting your home.

· 3. Joining or starting a neighborhood watch program can make a huge impact on crime awareness and deterrence in your neighborhood. FBI statistics indicate that it could make an impact of up to 40% in reducing crime in your area.

· 4. Keep an eye on foreclosed or abandoned homes, since these can quickly become dens of illegal activity when left unmonitored.

5. Finally, homeowners can make a great splash in their neighborhood crime rate by something that we might take for granted. In fact, simply maintaining your yard and keeping your home in good repair and nice appearances can, and does, reduce the incidence of crime in your area. This might seem unusual, considering most means of deterrence are based on fear and an increased difficulty of trespassing undetected. But despite how odd it may sound, the “broken windows” in your neighborhood should be addressed to positively influence crime around your home. Still skeptical?

No More “Broken Windows”

In the 80’s, criminologists developed a theory about the effects of vandalism and other kinds of disorder and disrepair; put simply, they put forth the idea that maybe people will be more likely to act out in criminal ways if it’s apparent that nobody cares about the state of their environment. Several municipalities in New York gave the broken windows theory a spin in practice and found the results impressively reduced rates of crime. Keeping graffiti cleaned on a regular basis and public facilities properly maintained made a notable and obvious impact in reducing crime.

Similarly, I remember my college years spent in run-down campus housing, in a dorm situated in what used to be an old mill. I remember the fragments of beer bottles at the front door, the missing panes, and the graffiti vandalizing the campus mascot mural on the fourth floor. I also remember how much these behaviors changed when management switched out and began extensive renovations. Overnight, it seemed like students attending there were more concerned about the well-being of the dorms. While there was still vandalism, it died off over time when whoever responsible for the acts realized that their damages were constantly repaired and painted over whenever they were discovered.

Now consider this: how do you think this theory applies to your city? Your neighborhood? Your home? When a property is left damaged with wear and the lawn grows wild with age, criminals doubtlessly become more interested in targeting it as opposed to well-maintained neighbors.

Giant Christmas Tree Made From China Plates Mugs And Teacups

Townspeople from Hasselt, Belgium collaborated with Inge Vanluyd and Stefan Vanbergen of the Belgian studio Mooz to create this giant Christmas tree in the town square. Residents donated extra unused plates and cups to help create the tree, which is comprised of over 5,000 pieces of china dinnerware and stands over nine meters tall and six meters in diameter. The tree was dubbed the "Taste Tree" due to Hasselt being known as "the capital of taste".

Miss Baylee and the Goats

Our granddaughter, Baylee, loves the goats. I have mentioned this before. She tries to make goat sounds and knows right where they are when she comes to visit. All she has to do is point and Grandpa takes her to see her friends. Baylee is 15 months old now and pretty good at getting what she wants. She is so cute its hard to deny her anything.

After a visit on Thursday I posted some pics of the goats and her mom got on to look at the newest post. Oops! Baylee saw the goats and wouldnt let her mom log off. If the screen went to sleep, she cried. If Nichole tried to log off, she cried. She wanted to see the goats.

This funny shot is Baylee kissing Mama Goat through the computer screen. This would never happen in real life, Mama Goat is a big chicken but Baylee does not know that yet. I just had to share. We laughed till be cried when Nichole sent this picture. Kids are pretty funny creatures.

Quick Fixes for Sticky Doors Wobbly Chairs and Doors that Wont Stay Open

Sticky wood doors and drawers, doors that won't stay all the way open, chairs that wobble - so annoying! And not so difficult to fix either. Here's how you do it.

1. WOBBLY CHAIRS

I bought a beautiful Italian made ladder-back chair for a song because one leg was a tiny bit shorter than the rest. I used a glue gun and put a bead across the base of the shorter leg. Hot glue begins to set up almost immediately and can be chipped back off if necessary, so it's an easy fix. Just level the glue off with your finger (when it cools a bit!) and flip the chair. Check if it is still wobbly and push lightly down on the seat closest to the offending leg to finish the job. The glue will be malleable but not sticky. When the glue hardens, the chair wobble is fixed!

Thrift Stores Spray Paint Unique and Fun Halloween Decorations!

I love Halloween! I love thrift shopping! And I love spray paint! Put them all together and you get this post! LOL

I found this very pink princess castle at Savers for only $3.99! But in my head I totally saw HOGWARTS! The brick walls, the turrets, the large doors. So to the horror of little girls everywhere, I pulled out the black spray paint!

I didnt use a plastic-specific spray paint. I just went to the shelf in the garage and grabbed my favorite spray paint ACE Hardware premium enamel. I love that fact that it covers very well and dries so quickly.

As soon as I was done I was SO excited! My vision had become a reality and yes, it really did remind me of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from Harry Potter. Yes, I am a proud #potterhead.

I placed it behind my sink for now but once I decorate for Halloween in full, I will post more pictures. I am quite excited about how it turned out.

Everyone knows Im a Disney addict. And so when I saw this pretty white candle holder at GoodWill, in my head I thought HAUNTED MANSION!

I found these glitter Halloween clip ons at WALMART for only 97 cents each. Oh the possibilities.

Here is the result! I really like the way it turned out. I also found the candle for .99 too at GoodWill.

I found this awesome candlestick at GoodWill and the candle for under $5! I took it apart and painted it black and rubbed it silver. I found glitter decals at Michaels and I really like the way it looks on my foyer table. It is very regal like something found in an old Hollywood scary movie.

Last week I stopped in this random thrift store and found these lanterns. Obviously, the previous owner used them outside and they were pretty beat up and rusted. They were only $3 each! So I cleaned them and spray painted them and they turned out like new. I am so excited because nothing screams Halloween to me like a spooky lantern.

I have also had these on the shelf in the garage and I have contemplated just donating them because I never knew how I would put them to use. SO glad I let them sit there. I spray painted them to match the lanterns and decided to put them to use in the foyer. I have more work to do on them but they look very cool! Very old school Halloween.

I found these rusted look candle sconces on clearance at Hobby Lobby in the summer department. They were ridiculously cheap and of course they found their way into my cart. I decided to spray them black for Halloween! They work perfectly at my front door and I! I placed some flameless candles that flicker - my candles must have that spooky flicker - and they look very inviting.

I hope to post more Halloween pictures in the coming weeks with decorations and ideas. I would head to your local thrift stores and look for random things you can spray paint for fun and unusual spooky decor! Good luck and Happy Haunting and Happy Hunting!

Giant Clams Could Help Us Make Better Screens and Solar Cells

Researchers from the University of California in Santa Barbara are investigating how giant clams produce each of their shades. These creatures, native to the Pacific and Indian oceans, have cells known as iridocytes that use their structure to scatter light waves and produce iridescent shades. In the species Tridacna maxima and Tridacna derasa, for example, the clams generate their white hues by mixing colors in a way similar to how video displays mix red, blue, and green pixels to create white. Scientists are hoping that by better understanding how this phenomenon works in giant clams they will be able to create more efficient solar panels and color displays in the future.

Max the kitten continues to dominate my energy and I have to admit that I am enjoying the time off from the work on my house. December has been a busy month at the office for me and I have exhausted myself completely. I have decided to take a good long break from blogging and, hopefully, be back fresh as a daisy later in the new year and ready to plunge into that ever-growing list of things to do.
