1 3 4 More Walls Up!

1 3 4 More Walls Up!

We built two more chicken house walls on Sunday. The wall they guys are holding up is only 3/4 done as it still need 4 more feet added to the top to make it even with the side wall on each end. That portion of the wall will have a 12" tall, 5 wide window across the south wall, up at the top, to add light into the coop so the girls will lay all winter. I will still need to add extra light in the morning but that will help. The east wall (far wall not yet built in this picture) will also have a big window that slides open, that will provide much light without cooking the poor things in the summer. My husband said he reached the end of his ability with framing after these two were done so now we wait for our friend to come back and help finish the framing. Maybe Wednesday. It is so nice of him to help us, he has so much of his own stuff to work on. But I am seriously impatient. I tried my hardest to talk Doyle into trying to build the rest without help but he wasnt biting. Darn it! Just thought I would show the progress!

4 Tips for Organizing Your Front Entry

4 Tips for Organizing Your Front Entry

With my small house I'm always looking to incorporate more storage and to organize things better.  My tiny front entry has no closet and neither does my mudroom.  Here are some of the ways I organized those spaces and maximized the storage potential.

1. Closet Organizer

Did you know that a closet organizer can double or triple the storage space of a closet?  Finding the right configuration is the key to success.  The best closet organizers are easy to assemble and switch around as your needs or the seasons change.   You can double your hanging space and incorporate shelves or drawers for things that can’t be hung up.  The organizer shown below is a Martha Stewart organizer.

Layout inspirations 4 Moorcock

Layout inspirations 4 Moorcock

Moorcock by Andy Calvert
Viewed at the N Gauge Society 40th Anniversary show 2007

Id heard all about this layout on the Yahoo! N Gauge forum as it has legendary status. Was it worth all the fuss? Yep. A great example of N Gauge modelling - full-length trains, sweeping curves and great scenery.

Moorcock is still on the exhibition circuit despite the demise of its builder Andy Calvert. It also being reburbished - its quiet old. Anyway, I didnt have my camera with me in 2007 when I saw it, but here are some great photos and a video on the N Guage Society web site.

Pictures are here.

Video is here.

Enjoy.

Life with Max Pt 4 Spitting Back

Life with Max Pt 4 Spitting Back

SPITTING BACK

Max was fascinated by Eloise.  She could not get away from him, he was always staring at her or climbing all over her or chasing her around the house. They wrestled frequently. Eloise would growl and howl at Max to no avail.  If she got the better of him, Max would make the oddest little sounds. Sounds that reminded me of monkeys chattering.  The sounds would go on for a very short time and then he would lunge at her and the wrestling would start again.  Max was now one pound heavier than Eloise.  I knew if he continued his bullying behaviour, he would be hurting her as he grew bigger and bigger.   He was still biting a lot.  He didn't use his claws much but his teeth were always in action.
