Simple Fix White Painted Wood Floor
Well it's done. I hemmed and hawed and twisted myself in knots over it for nothing. I LOVE IT!
I finally got around to fixing up the floor in my new laundry room. That's not quite accurate, I fixed up 20 square feet of the floor in my laundry room - with Behr's porch floor paint!
I used the same stuff Suzan at Simply Vintageous used for her closet floor (see HERE), except I couldn't buy a small can of the glossy version so I bought the low sheen one. I do really like it in the low sheen, the imperfections are mostly hidden unless you hover over the floor and stare at it and who does that?! I mean who other than the person who did the painting because that person ALWAYS notices the little silly things... am I right?
I also couldn't decide whether to prime first or just paint, but I opted to sand the floor and then just paint it. I like the well worn look of a country cottage, so if the paint chips or wears down here and there I know I'll love it even more. I also decided to skip any decorative treatments - and I considered so many that I couldn't pick one I loved best. In the end, I am happy with the less is more look. I think I have enough colours, patterns and textures that this space looks pretty without the extra design even though Suzan's floor blew me away when I saw it (and still does). I know, I know! Today is July 6th! Two days after the Fourth of July holiday! But for me, the whole red, white and blue palette never goes out of style. So, I just thought I would share some images of my love for all things America from the past few weeks!
I love all things Disney and Walt Disney World is amazing for the 4th of July! Since I couldnt get there this year, I decided to add a touch of the magic to my front porch planters.

The weekend started at work. I love to have the kids wear red, white and blue for tennis camp. We decorate the nets and I love to go big for the holiday!
I spend the holiday weekend in Notre Dame, IN and also a coastal community in Michigan. Even though I would love to spend a few weeks of the summer in Nantucket, Cape Cod, or Kennebunkport, I am a Midwest girl, born and raised, and there is no better place to spend the holiday weekend than with friends and family in Pure Michigan.
I found this decorative chalkboard at Marshalls on clearance for $15 because of the large crack you can see in the picture. I was going to use it for a ceiling medallion but I think I have decided to keep it a chalkboard. This was my FIRST foray into chalkboard art - it was actually pretty fun to do. I am left-handed to smudging was an issue I have to work on. But it was like coloring when you are a kid.
On Sunday morning, we went to Mass on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. After church, we came home and had patriotic waffles on the patio al fresco. Being cooped up in the house all winter with blizzards and polar vortexes, any chance we get to eat outside, we definitely take it!
Dressed for mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame. Campus is in full bloom and gorgeous! The skirt is an oldie but a goodie. It was Cambridge Dry Goods and every time I go to donate it, I cant do it as I usually wear it this time every year. USA!

I am always known for bringing chocolate covered strawberries and this holiday was no different.
We also made patriotic cobbler with fresh Maine blueberries and Washington cherries. It was delish!
Always the easiest weekend for which to pack! ;-)
Found these lobster glasses at GoodWill for 49 cents each. Come to find they are vintage
from the Red Lobster restaurant. Sweet!
I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend! Its always sad to see the 4th of July holiday come to an end because it means summer is half over and here in the Midwest, it feels like it hasnt even started.
